Cobholm Primary Academy Pupils Participate in Beach Clean

This week, Cobholm Primary pupils from Year 5 walked down to Great Yarmouth beach to participate in a beach clean. We liaised with the local council who were able to loan us pickers and hoops to carry out our beach clean and environmental survey which linked closely with our Geography topic from earlier in the year on marine pollution.

Students split into groups and searched different areas of the beach looking for general rubbish including bottles and plastic. Students found a wide variety of items such as fizzy drinks cans, wet wipes, fishing ropes and even pieces of carpet! It was a pleasure to see all students so engaged in helping their local community as well as seeing their Geography knowledge come to life. During our clean we also completed surveys from the Marine Conversation Society and uploaded these onto their website to ensure they can use this data in future.
