Cobholm Primary Academy pupil leaps to the top of the pack in Lions Roar Competition 2023
BackIn the Autumn term this year, pupils from Cobholm Primary Academy took part in the Lions Roar Competition 2023, organised and run by education company 8billionideas and supported by local Lions Clubs. One Y6 pupil, Sophie, is one of the 8 winners of the nationwide competition, in which 25,000 pupils took part!
Lions Roar is a programme for Primary Schools designed to give a platform to young people to think big and positively change the world. Pupils were required to design and build a prototype of their idea, and create a video presentation including a jingle to present to a specialist panel of judges.
Sponsored by the Great Yarmouth Lions Club, our district winner Sophie fought off competition from schools across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire, with her winning design the Clothotron 600. Sophie said
"The Clothotron 6000 is a machine that makes recyclable material into clothing. It saves money, recycles waste, it's just as easy as copy and paste!"
Sophie had some great support from her classmates Kosy and Rafferty who assisted her in making an amazing video presentation including a very entreating rap! When asked about how she felt when they announced she had won, Sophie said
"It felt unbelievable to win, I thought I was in a dream."
