Internet safety - how to protect your child online
BackFor many of our young people remote learning means spending time online. We have created a list of helpful resources for parents/carers to make sure your child is safe when using the Internet.
- Childnet International https://www.childnet.com/ works directly with children and young people from the ages of 3 to 18, as well as parents, carers, teachers and professionals. It aims to make the Internet a safer place. Their website includes information about mobiles, gaming, downloading and social networking.
- UK Safer Internet Centre https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/ offers safety tips, advice and resources.
- The Anti-Bullying Alliance https://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/ is a group of organisations untied against bullying. It has advice for parents, outlines how to make a complaint and offers mental health support.
- Thinkuknow https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ is an education programme protecting children both online and offline. It has advice and information for parents and carers and children aged from 4 years and over.
If you are worried about a child you can contact your school's safeguarding team. During school closures, they will still be available to support you.
